An end-of-year student celebration in the Grove turned chaotic early Friday morning after authorities intervened due to noise complaints, cutting short several planned festivities. The all-night event, which extended into the early morning hours, included a trip to In-N-Out, a wig snatch competition, slip-and-slide kickball, a planned pool jump in the Grove, and a 3 a.m. basketball tournament. Attendees had stayed up until approximately 4 a.m. before the disruptions began.

CANYON was on scene to document the celebration after the attendees returned from In-N-Out. The morning started smoothly, with colorful wigs being distributed to students. Participants competed on the field in a lively wig snatch competition while others mingled. Meanwhile, crews erected a large ladder on the opposite field to prepare for slip-and-slide kickball — a chaotic twist on traditional kickball featuring long, slippery bases.
Trouble began when students using megaphones started shouting instructions to the crowd. The amplified noise prompted complaints, leading to the arrival of police officers. Authorities instructed everyone to leave the Grove and relocate to the fields adjacent to the basketball courts. As a result, the highly anticipated Grove pool jump was canceled, and the slip-and-slide kickball game was cut short, creating a lull in the activities. Students then gathered around the basketball courts, where a disorganized three-on-three tournament took place.

The celebration eventually wound down as participants began heading off to sleep after a long, eventful night.
